Lobster Night at the Grand Cayman Marriott

After three years on island I have moved to Seven Mile Beach and the timing could not have been better. I am reaching the three year itch. It looks like for most people the itch comes around year two and that is why there is a common belief that if you make it past the two year mark on island you will be a lifer.

It is hard for any new comer to the island to believe but eventually the excitement of living on a tiny island looses its gleam. A friend of mine and I got to island two weeks apart. We both remember our then boss telling us he could not remember the last time he was on the beach. Needless to say my friend and I were both shocked and vowed that would never be us. Well three years later and both of us could not remember the last time we were at the beach.

That is why moving to seven mile at this point is just perfect. We walk the beach often when we go out and with the sun setting in our backyard we have no excuse not to go watch it.

We now live very close to the Marriott and I remembered they have a special on for all you can eat lobster on Wednesday night. The lobster night goes from 5:30 until 10pm. Since we wanted to take full advantage of the all you can eat lobster we got there at 6pm. What we had not considered before this was that the Marriott restaurant is actually one of a few upscale restaurants directly on Seven Mile Beach.

The lobster night special is 75CI and includes a glass of sparkling wine. The price has gone up quite a bit over the years but so has the food quality. I had gone to one of these in my first week on island and I remember the tiny lobster tails and the sub-par sides. Huge difference!

You get all three of the starters in a row. I apologize but I did not get a chance to take a picture of the first two as they looked and tasted so good we inhaled them before the thought of taking a picture had formed. Below is the lobster tail. What a lobster tail it was! The biggest I have eaten to date!

The three starters filled us up almost to the max. We then ordered the curry and the thermador. Both were delicious. Finally we ordered a mac and cheese to split as we just could not eat anymore.

When we asked for dessert our waiter asked if we were sure we did not want another lobster tail. He actually asked us twice :) It was a hard decision but we just could not fit anymore in! The dessert was small, which was perfect after the large meal, and super tasty. We plan on making the Marriott lobster night a regular event!  Best of all they offer a 15% discount for locals on the food and if you have a CISPA card you get 20% off food and beverages. Score!

  3. Hello!

My wife and I are relocating to grand cayman for a position she took with her accounting firm. We ran across your blog in our research of life in the cayman islands and are impressed. We are looking to network socially and professionally with individuals already on the island.

We would love to know more about your experiences, life on the island, networking opportunities, etc. Please feel free to reach out to me via email at Matthew.Walker1989@gmail.com and find me on LinkedIn as well.

    Thanks!
    Matt
