Ritz Staycation

One relatively cheap and fun activity often overlooked is the staycation. I personally have not done enough of these! In my almost 3 year run here I have done two. The first one was at the Reef in East end. This is a common one for locals as it is quite a drive up and very peaceful and secluded.

The other big one is the Ritz Carlton. I have a very close friend who works at the Ritz and she kindly offered me the friends and family rate. It took me for ever to take her up on it, but I'm now so glad I did. I honestly thought it would just be more hassle than it's worth. I mean, what kind of vacation can you have a mere 10 minute drive from your house?

An awesome one! We stayed only one night and it was such a pleasent experience. The Ritz is truly a 5 star hotel. We were upgraded form a garden room to an ocean front room. The rooms were almost as beautiful as the view.

We brought our own champagne and chocolate covered strawberries (thanks to Icoa Foods - Seven Mile Shops) to make a beautiful sunset even more perfect!

We were also able to check in early so we actually had two full beach days. The beach service was really good as were the cocktails. They are pricy though, I had a Caesar and it was 15 USD , normally if I am drinking a Caesar out of a plastic cup the cost should be at most 6 USD. It is awesome getting served on the beach though.

That night we ate at Taikun, the Ritz's speciality fine dining sushi restaurant. It is by far the most superior sushi establishment on the island. What was even better is that they allowed us to take our bottle of wine back to the room.

Is there a group for Canadian expats in Cayman. I want to move my family down there and was hoping there was other Canadians I could speak with who live there with small kids.
