Back in Cayman Fashion - Fresh 2012

Things have been so hectic as of late. The nature of the island is transient and as such your work team is changing constantly. We are loosing 2 key people in the span of 3 months so work has become very busy. Have a lot to post! Anyway on to the guts of this post...

If you have seen any of my earlier posts or read my description you would know I do a bit of modeling. Nothing serious but I just like to have fun and do it while I still can!

A couple of weeks ago I was in the ladies bathroom at work and a girl asked me to come to a casting call for a fashion show. I thought it would be fun but small. I was sure there would be at the most 5 girls at the casting. Boy was I wrong! There was over 50 of us!

They made the casting call feel very "American idol". It was held at a theater and we went up in groups of 10 and did a few walks on the well lit stage. After they announced the finalists who needed to walk again, it felt like they called everyone! So after the almost three hour casting call we were sent home!

A week later I found out I was chosen and would walk for three designers and the event was called Fresh. I was also called in for a rehearsal which turned out to be for the fanfare of the show. The fanfare was the opening number to get the audience going. Myself and 12 other girls practiced for a week straight trying to learn the relatively simple choreography. In between the practices there were many fitting and also the Cayman National Cultural Foundation brought in a professional runway coach to train us.

It was a lot of work but in the end totally worth it! I was even a bit inspired to make my own clothes!
