Sharing With A Roommate

Besides the car the other decision that can cause some grief is whether to live with a roommate or not. When I first moved to the island I lived on my own in a one bedroom. I paid a very very high rent. The equivalent of 2000 US. It was not on seven mile beach but it was peaceful and right on the water.

After my lease was up I decided to move down to Seven Mile Beach. There is no way I could afford anything on SMB on my own. So I looked at the possibility of sharing. One of my friends forwarded me an email that her friend was looking for a roommate. A laid back guy. I thought that sounded pretty good and the place looked nice.

When I visited the place it had some very key features
  1. On the water
  2. ensuite bathroom
  3. two closets
  4. it was cool (some people shut off their aircon and I really wanted to avoid that)
  5. The guy hired a maid every 2 weeks to clean the place
  6. It seemed quite.

So I moved in on Sunday. Since then I have had a very rough time. One of my two closets was half full of crap. Stuff that came with the house apparently so I could not just throw it out. There go my two closets...

As I was moving my stuff over I started to get really hot. Noticed the aircon was off. I asked him why it was off he says he likes the heat and usually keeps it off!!

Being in a central location has a big downside. There is a bar called Obar about a block away from my new place. For two nights in a row I have been woken up at 1:30 and kept up until 3 by the bass. I have never been more grateful for the religious nature of this island. At least I will be able to get two nights of full sleep a week  since bars close on Saturday at midnight and are not open on Sundays (unless it is a long weekend).
