Rainy Days in Cayman

Last year the rainy season was quite mild and I think it started a lot later than this year. We have had a week of non stop rain. I can only remember one week like this last year and it was during peak hurricane season month September.

I used to be a bit of a homebody back in Canada, what else are you going to do when it is -30 Celsius outside? Now I tend to do a lot of outside activities, biking, running and swimming. Having that all taken away for a full week is unbearable.

The rain  has also been causing havoc on the roads. There was some major flooding this year. After only one day of rain some areas had hip height water. Also schools were closed for most of the week.

This was just a block down from my place. Walkers road. Good thing I just bought a kayak!

This is one of the busier streets.
The most touching story was that of the Cayman Islands Humane Society. They were flooded on the first day of rain. All of the animals needed temporary fostering! Luckily all of them found a dry place to sleep on the same day but the building was still flooded a week later because the rain would not stop.
