Very Close To Home : Worrying

Since last Sunday the mood of the island has changed significantly. When I was out with my friends on Sunday I started to hear from various people that a girl is handing out fliers with her boyfriends pictures because he was been missing since Saturday night. At first no one really paid attention. We all thought he would turn up.

But then Monday came around and still no sign of Nathan Clarke. Organized searches started. Hundreds of people volunteered in beach and water searches. His cell phone was found 10 feet off shore in the water by a tourist a few days later but that was all. It is very scary to think that someone can disappear so easily. It has been 10 days since he went missing and still no sign. The search has actually been called off. This is sad and scary.

I have also heard about people falling off the party boats and sometimes getting stranded. The same day that Nathan went missing we went on a boat trip and heard a story about a friend of ours who fell off. The boat was returning for the day, which it does in pitch black! This guy leaned against the latter at the back of the boat and fell in. Luckily one person saw him fall in and reported it. It still took the boat 20 minutes to find him.

I heard another story just this weekend about a couple that fell in and were left behind. They swam for three hours in complete darkness. Trying to avoid boats as the boats came back.

The moral of all these stories is be very very careful here. Accidents happen more often then you think. These incidents actually scare me more then the crime!

This is the boat we were on. I saw the driver count us a few times so that was good.
